Located in the heart of the beautiful Alvão Natural Park, A Cabana do Alvão is a gastronomic space dedicated to snacks, sandwiches, breakfasts, or group meals upon prior reservation.
A Cabana was established 43 years ago, just before the construction of the dam, and it has always been owned by the same proprietors, Dona Virgínia and her husband.
The friendliness is, as we already know, immense, typical of the people from Trás-os-Montes region who have a tradition of welcoming those who pass through here.
Inside, you will find a typical room with a fireplace, long tables made of solid wood, region-specific wall ornaments, old shotguns, and a tantalizing smell of smoked meats that whets the appetite of those who arrive.
Outside, it's ideal for taking some photos of A Cabana, covered in thatch with magnificent green decorations. This true cabin becomes, in the minds of those who visit, a legendary childhood story. In winter, nothing beats being surprised by the cabin covered in snow; it's magnificent.
Fine wines from the region accompany the snacks at A Cabana, including grilled "alheiras" and other homemade smoked meats, as well as ham. Accompanied by the region's homemade bread, everyone who snacks here takes a memory of this special place.
